Grinnell College Increases Qualified Prospects with Blackbaud’s Raiser's Edge NXT

Founded in 1846, Grinnell College is a private, coed, residential liberal arts and sciences college located in Grinnell, Iowa.  When Grinnell College framed its charter in the Iowa Territory of the United States in 1846, it set forth a mission to educate its students "for the different professions and for the honorable discharge of the duties of life." The College pursues that mission by providing an education in the liberal arts through free inquiry and the open exchange of ideas.


Grinnell College transitioned to the Raiser’s Edge NXT in 2016 to achieve the college’s goals of implementing a cloud-based advancement system.  With it, Grinnell College has a solution that has helped simplify their fundraising and alumni management operations, empower users, work more efficiently, and raise more money for their institution.  Some of the benefits the team at Grinnell College is enjoying about their Raiser’s Edge NXT experience include:


  • Increasing access across the institution on a single, easy-to-use solution.  One of Kelly’s key takeaways was the solution’s ease of use.  The college’s early users became quick adopters and strong advocates for new users coming onto the solution.
  • Spending less time with data and more time with alumni and donors.  Their gift officers’ favorite Raiser’s Edge NXT capability?  The smartphone voice-to-text feature! Kelly shares how this tool allows their gift officers to enter their call reports and keep the data up-to-date by easily updating records while on the go.  The mapping feature has helped makes trip planning much easier and, if needed, gift officers can easily find additional prospect visits to fill in on a trip.
  • Increasing qualified prospects.  With the help of Raiser’s Edge NXT’s automated processes and the aid of screening services, Kelly describes that Grinnell College gift officers have been able to increase qualification visits by 38% and increase qualified prospects by 44%.   
  • Keeping up with the latest technology through rapid, ongoing enhancements.  Dan is a huge fan of the real-time updates.  These have allowed him to easily incorporate changes and encourage real-time adoption, avoiding major shifts in work styles and processes.
